The Global Refining & Petrochemicals Congress (GRPC) stands as a testament to the visionary leadership of the late Shri Anand Kumar, former Director (Refineries) at Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. His profound expertise in refining, coupled with an extraordinary compassion for colleagues and peers, laid the foundation for this esteemed platform. My interactions with him, during his lifetime, were something special. I witnessed a leader whose wisdom and warmth left an indelible mark. In the spirit of Ruskin Bond’s timeless words:   “Flowers fade, wither away. So must humans. But if the seed is good, other flowers, other people will take our place.”   Shri Anand Kumar’s legacy flourishes as the GRPC marks its ninth year in 2025, a vibrant stage for the global petroleum industry. The 8th GRPC, themed ‘Evolving Frontiers: Shaping Tomorrow’s Downstream Landscape’, was convened at Hotel Le Meridien, New Delhi, on June 27–28, 2024. I had the privilege of chairing a technical session on ‘Innovative Case Studies and Success Stories’, an enriching experience that underscored the industry’s forward momentum.   This year, I was honored to attend the 9th GRPC, held on July 10–11, 2025, at the same distinguished venue. The event was a dynamic convergence of thought leaders, innovators, and industry experts. Upon arrival, I proceeded to the registration counter, only to be warmly redirected by Sunny Mehta, Director of Partnerships & Government Affairs at iTen Media, the event’s organizer. “Sir, this counter is for delegates,” he clarified with a smile. “Special Invitees have a dedicated counter.”   The exclusive counter for special invitees operated with remarkable efficiency. Pre-printed badges, complete with names, designations, and organizations, were neatly arranged alongside conference kits, ensuring a seamless and swift registration process. This meticulous attention to detail exemplified the GRPC’s commitment to excellence, blending tradition with innovation as effortlessly as a state-of-the-art refinery.   The GRPC remains a beacon of industry leadership, where every interaction, from registration to technical sessions, reflects precision, professionalism, and purpose. 𝗔𝗻 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗢𝗶𝗹: 𝗚𝗥𝗣𝗖 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 It was an honour to participate in the 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 & 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 (𝗚𝗥𝗣𝗖 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱) in New Delhi on 10th July 2025—an influential platform that brought together energy leaders and visionaries to shape the future of refining and petrochemicals in a low-carbon world. As a panellist in the Leadership Panel at GRPC 2025, I had the opportunity to share IndianOil’s strategic vision for the future of refining and petrochemicals. I spoke about our ambitious plans to expand refining capacity to 𝟵𝟴 𝗠𝗠𝗧𝗣𝗔 and increase 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗲𝘅 𝘁𝗼 𝟭𝟱% 𝗯𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟯𝟬, aligning with India’s growing energy needs. I also highlighted the 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘀𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁 at 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘆, signifying our push towards self-reliance in the technology-intensive domain of refinery catalyst. Reaffirming our commitment to sustainability, I outlined IndianOil’s roadmap to achieve 𝗻𝗲𝘁-𝘇𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 by 2046 through a combination of renewable energy integration, natural gas substitution, enhanced grid power usage, and ENCON measures. Our transition is further supported by clean energy projects including 𝗯𝗶𝗼𝗳𝘂𝗲𝗹𝘀, a 𝟭𝟬 𝗞𝗧𝗔 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗵𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗲𝗻 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁, and 𝗦𝗔𝗙 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 at Panipat. I am humbled to receive the “𝗗𝗼𝘄𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿” award at 𝗚𝗥𝗣𝗖 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱. This recognition belongs to the entire #IndianOil team—pioneering future-ready refineries, steering energy transition, and India's low-carbon transformation. Adding to the pride, 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘆 & 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘅 was honoured with the “𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗥𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿” for its pioneering green hydrogen initiative.
